Council Of Ministers Endorses Draft Law To Set Up Two Commissions

Addis Ababa, November 16, 2018 (FBC) –The Council of Ministers on Wednesday endorsed a draft law for the establishment of National Reconciliation Commission and Commission for Identity and Boundary.

The Council referred the draft law to the House of People’s Representatives for a final approval, a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office noted.

According to the office, the National Reconciliation Commission will help to heal the scars left by the age long social and political conflicts in the country as well as to bring about genuine reconciliation.

The Identity and Boundary Commission is tasked with resolving independently, professionals and peacefully the identity and boundary problems arising from nations and nationalities of Ethiopia.

The Council also endorsed the loan agreement signed between the government of Ethiopia and the International Development Association and referred it to the House for approval.

The Council also decided to come into effect the draft regulations prepared to determine the power and responsibilities of the newly set up authorities, commissions and institution.
