(Via) –China may appear to many average Africans as a friend, and as much as I agree china has been a decent friend, in long term China is choking us off economical progress. China is not in Africa to help Africa progress, number one goal for China in Africa is to establish a reliable market for it’s goods for when it gets into a geo-political standoffs with countries like US and EU. China is on a fast pace tryingt to convert Africa into a billion population of consumers. Of course they will help build a few highways and railroads, but there are just to ensure smooth transfer of Chinese goods and on return, smooth transtion of african natural resources from central parts of Africa to the coastal regions for export. If China was a sincere partner in development, your leaders should ask them not for roads (We can buidl our own roadsa and rail system) Let China build a dozen factories, semi-conductors factory, battery making factory, one refinery, large scale garment factory, or a mega electronic factory. Only till then I will be convinced of this friendship and partnership. Till then, we are being fooled, being turned into nothing but consumers and china is turning us in a dumping groud for it’s product which keeps her country into a manufucturer and us as a bunch of spenders with not JOB growths. This is not an endorsement to any relations with the west, we can’t go back there. Lets just deal smart, so far, that’s not the case and that’s why Nigeria exports crude oil but suffer from fuel shortage all the time, that’s why Ivory coast leads in cocoa production but average Ivorian has never tasted chocolate…and many more examples
