Washington, DC – Keith Ellison received nine new endorsements for DNC Chair, including Michigan State Party Chair Brandon Dillon, Washington State Party Chair Jaxon Ravens, Vermont State Party Vice-Chair Tim Jerman, Illinois State Party Vice-Chair Karen Yarbrough, Nebraska State Party Vice-Chair Frank LaMere, California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Congressman Raja Kirshnamoothi, and Standing Rock Sioux Chairman Dave Archambault.

Additionally, this past weekend, Keith Ellison held a rally in Chicago and received an endorsement from Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. Additional Illinois supporters include: Congressman Luis Gutierrez, Cook County Clerk David Orr, DuPage County Chair Bob Peickert, Cook County Commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, Alderman Roderick Sawyer (Ward 6), Susan Sadlowski Garza (Ward 10), Ricardo Muñoz (Ward 22), Scott Waguespack (Ward 32), Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (Ward 35), and John Arena (Ward 45).

“Our next DNC Chair must unify the party, commit to investing in our state parties, and have a message that puts working Americans first,” said Michigan State Party Chair Brandon Dillon. “I’ve had numerous conversations with Keith about the importance of organizing on the ground in 2017, rebuilding our party from the ground up, and harnessing the energy of grassroots Democrats. Keith’s desire to refocus the DNC on our local communities and local party organizations is exactly in line with what we plan to do in Michigan. That is why I am honored to support Keith Ellison. Not only is Keith a Detroit native that understands Michigan, he is an organizer that can unify our party and raise the resources to win in 2018 and beyond.”

“I am proud and honored to endorse Keith Ellison for DNC Chair,” said Washington State Party Chair Jaxon Ravens. “Our party needs a National Chair that can raise the resources, unify Democrats and turnout voters. Keith has raised millions for Democrats across the country and he has a strong message of unity having supported Bernie in the primary and working just as hard for Hillary after she won the nomination. In fact, at the DNC convention, his message that the strength of our party comes in the fight for working families resonated with countless voters. Watching Keith turn the lowest performing district into the highest in Minnesota for turnout gives me hope that if we take his organizing strategy nationally, we will turn back the loss of 930+ legislative seats across the country and build a strong national party.”

“Today, I join other Vermont voting DNC members by announcing my support for Keith Ellison for Chair of the Democratic National Committee,” said Vermont State Party Vice-Chair Tim Jerman. “Keith is a vibrant, natural leader who connects with a broad range of working voters, including younger new voters and those not now participating in the process. He is also from the heartland, where we need to re-connect with a whole range of working voter, and he understands the well-articulated calls for a real 50-state strategy, which concentrates long-term on strong state parties, not just presidential elections every four years. I’m so impressed with all of the candidates, but I’ll vote for Keith Ellison in Atlanta in late February.”

“The best organizers understand that strengthening our party starts at the grassroots level,” said Illinois State Party Vice-Chair Karen Yarbrough. “I proudly endorse Keith Ellison because he will help build our party from the municipal and county levels up. Building benches, investing resources wisely and taking his successful organizing strategy nationwide to engage voters 365 days a year.”

“The Democratic Party, which is the party of FDR, Kennedy, and Obama, stands for working people and bringing Americans together, no matter their race, religion or identity,” said California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom. “For the Democratic Party to come back, we need a DNC Chair who can make our case all across our country – from California all the way to the Midwest and Deep South. Keith Ellison is the best person for that job and I am proud to endorse him as DNC Chair.”

“Keith Ellison understands how crucial it is for Democrats to fight for all Americans, no matter where they live, their race, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation,” said Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. “As Co-Chair of the Progressive Caucus, Keith has consistently fought to raise wages for working families, expand Social Security, and protect women’s rights. He is a practical visionary who knows how to organize from the ground up to get the job done. We need his tireless enthusiasm, hard work and progressive leadership to move our party forward.”

“I’m proud to endorse Keith Ellison for DNC Chair,” said Congressman Raja Kirshnamoothi. “A longtime progressive champion, Congressman Ellison has a vision to rebuild our party focused on an agenda for working families and growing the middle class. I’m excited for his campaign and looking forward to working with him to defend our Democratic Party values.”

“Now more than ever, Indian Country needs Keith Ellison leading our Democratic Party,” said Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Chairman Dave Archambault. “Over the years, Keith has shown his deep understanding of the critical needs of Indian Country and has been a longtime supporter of tribal sovereignty.  Keith will be a fierce fighter to improve the quality of life on tribal lands and will prioritize the need to organize to increase voting capacity in our communities.  Keith has the tenacity, vision and the leadership to unite all of our Democratic communities. Most importantly, Keith knows how to lead and win elections, and he’ll make sure that Indian Country is fully engaged in those victories.”
