#NoToMidRockLagadanbiMining: Here is the waste disposed by the gold mining into drainages. The people and animals has no option than drink this.
Environmental pollution: One of the reasons why we oppose the renewal of the Midrock Legedenbi gold mining contract
Mining industries are the bases of colonial economy and symbols of labor exploitation, displacement, and oppression of native people. While these industries were long established in central and southern Africa, it is an emerging sector in Eastern Africa.
Adola gold mine that is currently owned by the Midrock Legedenbi PLC through concession is the largest gold mine in Ethiopia with an average annual production of 4.5 tones of gold.
Protests erupted several times as Laga Dembi Mine for releasing toxic chemical waste into a nearby river, causing illness to people and animals in the area.
The gold mining is owned by Sheikh Mohammed Al Amoudi, owner of MIDROC.
