OPDO sacks chairperson, deputy
Addis Ababa September 21/2016 The Central Committee of the Oromo People’s Democratic Organization sacked the chairperson Muktar Kedir and deputy chairperson Aster Mamo following the evaluation meeting of the party’s which was in session over the last six days.
According to Beker Shale, head of OPDO Central Committee Office, the decision displayed the party’s commitment to address the legitimate concerns of the public.
Beker said “replacing leaders is the first chapter in our reform program”, affirming the readiness of the party to rectify itself and address concerns raised by the public.
The party has replaced the chairperson and the vice chairperson with individuals who would be able to realize the reform by providing the necessary political leadership, he said.
Accordingly, the party elected Lemma Megersa, Speaker of the Regional Council, and Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu ,Minister of Transport as Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson respectively.
According to Beker, OPDO Central Committee has passed resolution that will enable it to accelerate the reform program to the lowest level of the party’s echelon.
