ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) – (Wtvbam)—The Tigray People’s Liberation Front, the party that controls most of the northern Ethiopia region of Tigray, on Sunday accused Eritrea of attacking its troops.

“The Eritrean military launched fresh attacks against our forces yesterday in Sigem Kofolo… located in Northwestern Tigray close to Sheraro town,” TPLF spokesman Getachew Reda wrote on Twitter.

Reuters could not verify the alleged attack as the communication network is down in the area.

Eritrean Information Minister Yemane Gebremeskel did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Ethiopia’s military spokesman Colonel Getnet Adane and government spokesman Legesse Tulu did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s spokeswoman Billene Seyoum did not respond to a request for comment.

War broke out in the mountainous region of 5 million people 14 months ago, pitting Tigrayan forces against federal troops backed by their Eritrean counterparts.

Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki told the state-run Eri-TV on Saturday that his troops would strive to prevent Tigrayan forces from attacking his country, or threatening the stability of Ethiopia.

Eritrean forces fought against Tigrayan forces since the start of the war in support of Abiy’s troops, but both nations spent the first five months of the war denying the Eritrean presence.

The Eritrean troops withdrew from most of the region in June, the same month that Ethiopian federal troops also withdrew.

Last month, Tigrayan forces withdrew from neighbouring regions they had invaded in July, in a step towards a potential ceasefire.

Reuters has reported atrocities by all sides, including Eritrea, which the parties to the fighting have denied.

The conflict in northern Ethiopia has killed thousands of civilians and displaced millions.

A policy option called “compassionate release” grants sick and elderly inmates a chance to spend their final days outside of a prison cell. First implemented in the 1970s, all 50 states except Iowa currently have some kind of related law, although policies between states vary widely .

Inmates in the Federal Bureau of Prison custody who are elderly and have a medical condition are allowed to petition for compassionate release.

According to Program Statement 5050.49, Compassionate Release/Reduction in Sentence, at § 4(b), in order to qualify under the Elderly Inmate with a Medical Condition category, the inmate must be age 65 or older, “suffer from a chronic or serious medical condition related to the aging process,” By: Christopher Reinhart, Associate Attorney,EARLY RELEASE FROM PRISON DUE TO AGE OR ILLNESS

Some, like California and Maryland, distinguish between “geriatric release,” which is age-dependent, with “compassionate release,” which offers early release for inmates who are ill.

Aging inmates commit less misconduct while incarcerated and have a lower rate of re-arrest once released. for Aging Prisoners: A Letter From Buckingham Prison)
Caring for aging inmates is a growing expense
Elderly prisoners cost more because almost all expenses related to their health care must be borne by state tax dollars.Elderly inmates are easily victimized by predatory inmates.

Amhara elites are howling at the Abiy Ahmed regime and expressed their “deep dismay” on the account of recent release of Politicians of a Tigrean descent.
One of those fanatic amhara expansionist media outlets Borkena justifies its objection in the following lines : In Germany, in 2020, a 93-year old man, a former SS guard, was convicted for his Nazi crimes. Similarly, in 2021, a 100-year old SS guard was charged with complicity in Nazi crimes. Neither advanced age nor frail health absolves an individual from facing justice. «
96-year-old woman who fled Nazi war crimes trial is found
The above woman was arrested , having been able to hide herself or succeeded to slip under officials’ radar for so many years, while the Tigrean Officials have already been under the illegal and inhumane treatment of Amhara dominated judiciary system.

They were serving prison sentence without enough evidence to take the case forward and devoid of justification, but allegations emanated from ethnic based hatred, fabrications, and satanic revengeful mentality inherited from Satan and carried out by blood thirsty Amhara elites. Does facing justice mean burning alive and filming it as a heroic act or stoning to death like your uncles in Middle East who executed under aged boys for taking part in peaceful protest ?
The accusations made by Amhara elites against TPLF and Oromo prominent leaders are ethnic-based attacks and lack consistency and verified documentations , and can’t be compared with the people you mentioned and their case.

Prisoners are released in every country based on their health and age related complications. Furthermore, Every country , province and locality should not be always compared to each country and district as long as judiciary and governing laws are concerned . Laws of releasing a prisoner is determined by local officials and their existing laws, therefore they should not be evaluated with respect to European or American laws except a visible violation of basic human rights and international laws.
