Ethiopia : Allows Passengers to Import Personal Use Items Duty Free
January 2, 2018 – Ethiopia issued a directive that allows passengers to import items that are for their personal use duty free. Bochu Sintayehu, Legal Service Director at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation, said the directive, which came into effect, permits passengers to import 351 types of items that are to be used for personal use only.
Airline passengers and those who use road transportation to enter into Ethiopia, including Ethiopian returnees and foreigners, could benefit from the new directives. They can import/ export up to 20 kilograms of food, two mobile cell phones and external hard discs, a television together with its stand, a camera, a laptop computer and five flash discs, among others.
