Ethiopia suffers from lack of doctors for physical therapy

For an estimated 105 million people in the country, there are only 17 doctors for physical therapy.

Physiotherapy is “ new and a luxury in Ethiopia”, says Aljazeera. It also reports that patients from neighboring countries like Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya and Eritrea are benefitting from the public funded physiotherapy center in Addis which gives free services


Physical therapy or physiotherapy is considered a luxury in Ethiopia. There are very few therapists available to treat tens of millions of people. And even then, not all of them are qualified.
