Ethiopia set to name new head coach next month

(Kawowo sports) –The Ethiopia football federation(EFF) to announce the new coach of the Ethiopian Men’s National Team(Waliyas) in one month period.

The Ethiopia national team head coach slot has been vacant since 12th October 2016 when the five month contract of interim coach ‘GebreMedhin Haile’ expired.

Medhin took over after the Ethiopian born American coach  Sahle Yohaness was sacked following unconvicing results in the AFCON 2017 Gabon qualifiers and Russia 2018 world cup qualifiers.

The Federation has changed two head coaches after the successful head coach Sewnet Bishaw was sacked.

Sewnet helped the Ethiopian national team to attend the AFCON 2013 southAfrica,after 31 yrs absence of absence and to qualify for the first time to attend CHAN in 2014 in south-Africa.

After sewnet,in 2014, the Indian born Portuguese coach  Mariano Barreto was hired but failed to help the team to qualify to the 2015 AFCON and end up in being sacked.

In 2015, Sahle took over only to be relieved of his duties  after the shameful 7-1 loss to Algeria.

The result came after Ethiopia had managed to draw with the result of 3-3 in Addis Ababa, three  days after the big loss Algeria.

As the Cameroon 2019 AFCON qualifiers starts after 3 months,the federation wants to hire a new coach ahead for an early preparation. close sources to the Federation told Kawowo sports, foreign coaches from Europe are applying to the position evenif,the federation doesn’t officially opened the working place Advertisemen
