“Bullets were skipping over the top of the water” BBC News
In Nigeria’s commercial capital Lagos, hundreds of people have been forced out of their homes by the police. The State government is carrying out the demolition of waterfront communities by setting fire on the houses and forcefully evicting the occupants. It is believed that over four thousand people are said to be living in the Otodo-Gbame community that was destroyed.
The government has said that it is clearing the community because it poses an environmental threat, following large fires there last year.
