At least 50 Ethiopian Military killed in Alshabab ambush in Burhakaba, Somalia.


(somaliregionnews)–Preliminary report reaching SR News desk indicates that about 50 Ethiopian troops were killed in Alshabab ambush of Ethiopian military convoy near the town Burhakaba, Bay region of Somalia. The troops, who are part of the AMISOM peacekeeping force in Somalia, were heading to the main city of Baidoa when they were attacked.

According to eyewitnesses in the area, Alshabab militants completely destroyed two Ethiopian military vehicles and hijacked another two.

EDF ambushed convoy in Burhakaba

Following the attack, reinforcement troops sent from Baidoa to rescue and support their colleagues were also ambushed by Alshabab in a place called Goolada Bisimillah, around Burhakabo.

This is the heaviest attack Alshabab militants have carried out in recent times which inflicted heavy damage to Ethiopian Military since they set foot in Somalia.

The Somali government and AMISON representatives have not yet commented on this latest attack.
