  1. Kichuu & OMN,
What are the Oromos fighting for? Is it to protect and maintain Ethiopia, an armed Amhara Settler State, or is it to get rid of it; so we can establish our own freely formed relationship with the other nations of the Horn of Africa?

Alex de Waal is CAMPAIGNING to maintain Ethiopia as is, under his favorite Abyssinians, the Tigray! Although the TPLF seems to have learned its lessons from its past mistakes of REPLACING the Amhara Settler Political class in Ethiopia and ruling over the Empire rather than dismantling it, we are not sure WHAT THEIR POLICY IS TODAY BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT PUBLICLY DECLARED THEIR GOALS REGARDING THEIR PLANNED RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PEOPLE OF THE SOUTH!

Alex de Waal would be the ‘happiest camper’ at his Ivy League abode called Fletcher at Tufts University, if the TPLF came out and said it will ‘respect the sovereignty & national integrity of Ethiopia,’ the preferred diplomatic phrase, for a screw drilled into the aspirations for freedom by the Oromo people and the other colonized people of the south!

You NEED to know that this is ALL this Englishman has been campaigning for, for years! So, do us a favor: we do not need an Anti-Oromo Englishman gaining currency among your readers because of your own oversight! Stop pushing Alex de Waal on us!

  2. Irkoo,
I wouldn’t even call it ‘oversight’ on the part of OMN. With Jawar gone, it is unfamiliarity by the rest of the staff, with what the man does for a living: he TRAINS people who will sit across the table from you and have you sign over your country to them and make you feel good about it! LOL

By the time you realize what you have done, it is usually too late!!! LOL

Overall, the lesson here is not so much we shouldn’t entertain various honest opinions, but we shouldn’t confuse our own people by providing a prominent platform in Oromo, for a person who is Anti-Oromo, and an ‘Ethiopianist’ of the highest order, through and through!

  3. Hello people!
May I chime in with some suggestions for works of distinction, which are on par with any of the articles published by the likes of Mr De Waal, but address the current predicament of the people trapped in the Empire, with pointers for a way out?

Mr De Waal’s article, which is uncharacteristically less diplomatic, indicates that he is mad as hell at Abiy Ahmed! Why? Because the FAKE OROMO guy was able to DECEIVE all those European and American Diplomats whom Mr De Waal has trained, on his way to getting awarded the Noble Peace Prize! Now imagine what happens if the true children of Oromia begin to emerge from under a century of Settler Amhara Colonialism and start assuming their RIGHTFUL place among the community of nations!

I am afraid Mr De Waal may just have a heart attack then! Ok, enough about Mr De Waal! LOL

Honestly, thanks for the link to Ayantu’s & Khadijah’s article above! THESE TWO YOUNG LADIES ARE IN A CLASS OF THEIR OWN! I already read Soretti’s insightful work on the way forward to solving the seemingly intractable problems of Ethiopia, after you posted the link following Taha Abdi’s article, which was published here on Kichuu. Soretti is GIFTED with an amazing mind also! Just like you, I love reading Mekuria Bulcha’s work! Along with Professors Mohammed Hassan Ali, and Gammachu Magarssa, Mekuria is one of my favorite Oromo Scholars, period!

Rest assured, it will not be long before De Waal and his Fletcher graduates will have to come to terms with our people, whom the German Traveler and Missionary, Krapf called the most “intellectual” people of the Horn of Africa!
I read Ayantu & Khadijah’s article AND, no offense to my Kushitic brothers and sisters of this part of the world, but I have to agree with his assessment! A little self-congratulatory pat on the back does not hurt, does it? LOL
