The story keeps changing. You might recall that Abdi Iley’s spokesman, Edris Ismaeil told VOA that the ID card found on a soldier captured in Borana showing he belonged to Somalia National Army, was PHOTOSHOPED. Now Abdi Iley’s amateurish spin doctors have changed the story. They say the guy is alive and at his home. He is said to be a militia and that the ID was taken when his house was robbed in his absence. He claims he was issued the ID when he served in AMISOM in Somalia. Here where the story falls flat
– The guy claims to be a Captain ( Shambal) but the ID found is that of a Major ( Shalaqa)
– He claims to have served in AMISOM. This has two problems of its own. First the ID is ssued by Somalia’s National Army not AMISOM. Also since he claims to be Ethiopian, we would assume that he would have served AMSON as part of the EDF contingent. In that case he should have EDF and AMISON ID not that of Somali National Army.
Fun note: You might recall that last year Abdi Illey’s spin docs found me a mother and father that accused me of abandoning them
